The National Hockey League is also doing its part in the fight against cancer. As was stated in a previous blog post (Larry Fitzgerald post), the month of October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” Thus just as the NFL is heavily involved in recognizing and raising money for cancer research, the NHL has its own campaign, “Hockey Fights Cancer.”
The NHL teamed up with the with the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Prostate Cancer Canada, along with several other cancer research organizations as part of it’s month-long commitment to raise awareness for cancer research. NHL teams will display its support by wearing the color purple on their uniforms, hats, etc. Coaches and team officials will also show their support by wearing purple ties, handkerchiefs, etc. For more information on “Hockey Fights Cancer” or how you can donate or participate in this cause go to http://www.nhl.com/, or click on the following links below.
