Last weekend marked the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many athletes and organizations (the NFL among others) as usual are big participants in recognizing and helping to raise money for breast cancer research. Last week the NFL began their tribute by wearing pink. NFL players wore pink armbands, headbands, shoes, etc.
Larry Fitzgerald, a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, has embarked on his own personal campaign. Fitzgerald is going to donate $10,000 for every touchdown he scores and $1,000 for every catch he makes this month.
For more information on his ongoing campaign this month check out http://www.larryfitzgerald11.com/in-the-news/in-my-words/crucialcatchcampaign.html
This is definitely a heartfelt commitment for a receiver with such sure hands, as many NFL fans know Fitzgerald doesn’t drop a lot of passes. Fitzgerald has a personal connection in fighting this cause, he also lost his mother to breast cancer back in 2003. Check out Larry Fitzgerald’s website to follow his progress (the site is pretty cool, it has his updated stats at the top of the site) http://www.larryfitzgerald11.com/ .
