Udonis Haslem is known throughout the NBA for being the tough, “blue collar” worker for the Miami Heat. Haslem “clawed” his way to respect throughout the NBA as the soft-spoken leader and co-captain of the Miami Heat. The one-time NBA Champion, former Florida Gator and Miami Senior High product approaches his work in the community with the same “soft-spoken” tenaciousness. Udonis Haslem will host a silent auction and benefit dinner for his foundation, The Udonis Haslem Children’s Foundation, on September 26, 2011. The event will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. For more information click the link at the bottom, it will take you directly to the press release and further details on the event.
Haslem definitely has a “soft spot” for children. A man who has been through a lot this past NBA season – from the death of his mother after a long battle with cancer, to the pressure of possibly leaving home to sign with another team -he continues to immerse himself into his charity work. If you ever talk to Udonis, he will never hesitate to tell you that he is a “family man” and that family comes first. Thus it is through the inspiration of his mother’s fight that he “powers forward” in his work throughout the community.
Side Note: Just in case you haven’t noticed, or know this by now because the NBA season has yet to start (or may not start depending on the ongoing lockout issues), Haslem is now sporting a new look! !
